”Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens,” is a jump blues song. It was written by Alex Kramer and Joan Whitney. Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five recorded it on June 26th, 1946. Decca released it as a 78rpm record. It was added to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2013. I remember my parents and grandparents using this expression when someone would be asking, “Who’s home?”… or, “Is your dad there?” You get the idea. I realize this is not important information, but sometimes I entertain myself by looking things up! I thought it would make a fun title for my water color painting!
A few years ago, Jackie and I were on the road, traveling to Florida. We like to stop along the way and visit with friends and relatives. It breaks up the drive time and we get to see our “peeps” and more of the country. One of our stops was to friends in Arkansas. Cindy, Dave and Harris live in a beautiful spot. They put us up in their guest house…VERY nice!! Cindy took us shopping to a really cool town where we had lunch. It was a lovely visit and before we left, I took a photo of their two chickens. They were the models for my watercolor. Enjoy!!
Ciao for now! Hope you are having a good day…🤗🎨✌️💕
