Twenty seven years ago, Jackie and I were a new couple. Jackie is one of five children, I am one of seven…big families…lots of Christmas gifts!!  The first year, we went shopping and bought real presents. But our second year together, we were very aware of the abundance in our life. Our families were all fine. But there were so many around us in need. We decided to take the money we would have spent on our families and give it to a”good cause.” We heard of a family who had. lost everything in a fire…

That was the beginning. But now, what to do for our family and friends?? We decided on an ornament: a frog…he was painted green with a plaid bow tie and sequin eyes. On the back we wrote, “May your hop spring eternal! Love and Peace, Jackie and Patty”

One of our brother-in-laws dubbed us the Peace Chicks…and it stuck!

The second year a friend lost her husband right around the holidays…she was carrying twins. It was way too easy to find recipients. That year we did another ornament: a baby chick made from baker’s clay and a cookie cutter. We added a can of garbanzo beans and the tag read, “Chick peas from Peace Chicks!” We were on our way!!

I will share some more of our favorite Peace Chick tokens from over the years in future posts, but til then…Please promote Peace!

  • Ciao for now! Patty✌️?

  1. Thank you for making a space where I can come to find a little peace whenever I want. You’ve brought so much peace and joy and gratitude to so many. Abundanza!

  2. The Peace Chicks Ornaments are the only Christmas treasures I keep. I have given away all of my other ornaments and look forward every year to seeing what new and clever gifts come from you. I hope that the love and generosity that the Peace Chicks are so notorious for spreads like a tsunami and that you leave an army of new peace chicks in your wake!

  3. Peace Chicks, Tweeties, such Sweeties!
